Upcoming election of officers for WCARC
« on: October 24, 2018, 05:38:46 pm »
It is election time! I would like to invite everyone to attend the club meeting on October 25th at the EMS building in Brenham at 7pm to participate in the yearly election of officers for our club. You must be present to vote.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that nominations for positions can happen right up until the time we take a vote from our members for people to fill the positions of leadership. And only paid up members can vote in the upcoming election.

So please, take the time out of your schedule to come participate, renew your membership and vote for the people you think can handle the clubs business effectively, impartially and for the good of our club and the citizens of Washington County.

I would also implore you to think hard about who you think can lead our club into the future with everyone's best interests in mind. I think the future of our club is important as we serve a need in our county for emergency communications as well as give us all a place for us to commune in the spirit of Amateur Radio by hosting events and maintaining VHF/UHF repeaters that foster the spirit of Amateur Radio.

I will, once again, be running for President after a couple of years respite. I am running with the intent of giving us all a place to enjoy Amateur Radio and share our common hobby, keep the repeaters up and operating for the benefit of all and I look forward to participating in our events to sharpen our skills and share our mutual hobby. I will endeavor to run the club with fiscal responsibility, keep our repeaters working and serve the needs of the entire county and beyond with everyone's best interests in mind.

I have been involved with Amateur Radio since 1972. I have done a little bit of everything from chasing DX to chasing satellites. I have enjoyed challenging myself and others by learning something new and integrating it into our Amateur Radio toolbox. I have been a member (and leader) of many different clubs over the years, even before I had my license. I turned my Amateur Radio skills into a career and owned several small businesses at the forefront of the technical revolution we all now live with. I have started clubs from scratch and I have been a member in old clubs that served the needs of Houstonians and citizens of Washington County for many decades. So, I have a little bit of experience in this area. Over all, I have come to have a deep-seated belief that an Amateur Radio club needs to serve ALL of its members needs, not just the needs and political aspirations of a few.

I will allow my record of previous impartial and dedicated service to these clubs to stand on its own...

I am taking this opportunity to formally ask you for your vote and your support for the leadership of our club in 2019.

I look forward to possibly serving you for another year as your President. Please come and participate in the vote for the 2019 term.
